Stapelia erectiflora

The perennial succulent Stapelia is a member of the Lastaceae family. This plant has become popular with florists for a relatively long time because it is undemanding in care, and this is also due to its extremely unusual flowering. The flower of this plant is famous for its very interesting smell, which does not resemble any usual floral fragrance. This fragrance is unpleasant and looks more like the smell of rot. Goethe said of this flower in this connection, “The most beautiful are the most monstrous flowers.” Florists are attracted to stapelia by the unusual combination of spectacular beauty with a terrible smell.
