Stapelia LEENDERTZIAE

A low-growing herbaceous plant with strongly branched, tetrahedral stems and large denticles. The leaves are reduced to scales. When damaged, a whitish sticky sap emerges at the break or wound. Flowers are solitary, broadly bell-shaped, resembling beautiful bells. The flowers are mottled, dark red or brown in color. They usually appear on the underside of the stem and give off an unpleasant odor. The flowers of these strange creatures are bizarre and beautiful at the same time. On the one hand they look like geometrically correct pentagonal stars. On the other, they have an absolutely unpredictable combination of colored spots, wrinkles, dents and hairs.
